Current wikipedia STATUS (as of Wednesday October 15, 2003): I'm back from a great 4-day geography field study of Yosemite National Park but am a bit swamped at the moment. It'll be a couple of weeks before I'll be able to upload my best digital photos and incorporate my geography/human history field notes and report on Yosemite's geology into Wikipedia.

Hello, I have been a Wikipedian since January 1, 2002. After getting totally hooked on the idea of Wikipedia I then became a member of the Wikipedia Volunteer Fire Department and later a Wikipedia Administrator (all this really means is that I am a hopeless Wikipediholic). In December of 2001 I graduated with a Bachelors of Science[?] in Biological Sciences and a minor in Geological Sciences (that's right kids -- I have a BS in BS with a minor in dirt). I plan on getting a Masters degree in Atmospheric Science. After that I plan on receiving a PhD in Global/Earth Systems Science (which James Lovelock liked to call Geophysiology) in the year 2010.

About the handle. Well I have always been a maverick so that part seemed appropriate (and what true "maverick" would actually spell it correctly -- hey, wait a minute, I just did spell it correctly... errr). The "149" part is a reference to the movies 2001: A Space Odyssey & 2010 The Year We Make Contact, in which we find out the dimensions of the mysterious monolith[?] (1 by 4 by 9). Knowing this, it is most appropriate for me to graduate in the year 2001 with a Bachelors, and plan on graduating in 2010 with a PhD -- I know, I'm a geek. But I am damn proud of it.

I oftentimes give quick, seemingly unkind and terse comments on talk pages and especially in edit summaries. However meanness is not at all the intent, just efficiency. This is a quirk of my rare personality type: INTJ (http://keirsey.com/personality/ntij). I do try to moderate what I say and how I say it -- mainly because my terseness sometimes leads to inefficient chit chat to resolve misunderstandings on talk pages.

If for some insane reason, lack of sleep, psychosis or other dementia you want to know more about me, then visit my totally opinionated meta page; where I post my random thoughts, lecture notes, old essays and any other junk I can get my hands on and legally place under the GNU FDL.

Historical anniversaries

I've been involved with expanding the events section of our Historical anniversaries day pages and then updating every year page linked from those pages along with many other articles. A handfull of the entries did not need additional events so I just updated all the linked year pages and many of the corresponding subjects.

Killing / pages

I moved all the / pages for each and every Star Wars and Star Trek articles to non-/ed titles, fixed hundreds of active and edits links within these, reformatted and wikified many of these articles. All this work seems to have paid off -- contributions to these entries have noticably improved now that linking is far easier for these articles.

I'm helping to do the same thing for the country / pages and I helped motivate others to do the same for the Middle-earth the The Simpsons articles.
