Eurovision Song Contest 2004

The Eurovision Song Contest 2004 will be the 49th Eurovision. It will be held in Turkey on 15th May 2004, unless something happens which prevents Turkey from hosting it.

It will be the first Eurovision to be a two-day event, with one qualifying round held on a Friday and one grand finale held the next day on Saturday.

Five possible venues appear to be in the running for 2004, all in Istanbul. The Mydonose Showland Centre, the Abdi Ipekçi Sports Hall, the Ataköy Olympic Hall, the Sütlüce Cultural Centre and the Istanbul World Trade Centre. Each venue has merits, though the smart money is going on either the Mydonose Showland or Sütlüce Cultural Centre at present.

The Sütlüce Cultural Centre is Turkish Radio & Television's (TRT) prefered location, but this will be formalised after negociation with the European Broadcasting Union the day to day organisers for the event.
