User:Adam Bishop

I am from London, Ontario, Canada, although I was born in Richmond Hill, Ontario. I have recently graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a degree in history. I also play guitar and watch entirely too much Star Trek, The Simpsons, and Seinfeld. I'm not much of a sports fan, but I like the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs. I don't read much fiction (dictionaries and encyclopedias are far more interesting), but I believe I can count myself among the J. R. R. Tolkien geeks. I can speak a little French, but not fluently, and I also know a little bit of German, Esperanto, and Latin (but not anywhere near as much as French).

I think I first came across this place through Quizbowl, and my first contribution was the Alexius IV article in January, 2003, although I didn't have a user name at that point. In June, 2003, I started contributing more regularly.

I work in the library at the London Free Press newspaper. When I'm not busy there (which is often), I just read the books we have, or I surf around the Wikipedia site. I haven't taken the Wikipediholic test, but I bet that would count for some points.

I have a webpage, but mostly just for guitar stuff:

http://www.angelfire.com/mi/Grenfell/guitar

Although it's not "my" webpage exactly, there is also the UWO Quiz Bowl webpage:

http://www.usc.uwo.ca/clubs/quiz-bowl/default.htm

It is a crushing blow to my ego that I can't claim credit articles here, but it's also good that people can correct and improve on what I write. I usually contribute to historical stuff - my interests are mainly medieval history, especially medieval England, the Byzantine Empire, and the Crusades. I am also interested in pre-Confederation Canada), ancient history, and linguistics. I sometimes contribute to some popular culture stuff too. So, here are the articles I have worked on (aside from very small edits) or created; ones I created are bolded.
