Dame Elizabeth Rosamond Taylor (born February 27, 1932) is a British actress born in London as the daughter of the art dealer Francis Taylor and the actress Sara Taylor. Her parents are American. She has one older brother, Howard.

Sometimes known as "Liz Taylor", she became an actress as a child. She played in her first movie at the age of nine; her first important role was playing the lead in Clarence Brown's film National Velvet[?], in which a young girl, Velvet Brown, played by Taylor, trains a horse to win the Grand National.

At the age of 3 she began taking ballet lessons. Later, she attended University High School in Los Angeles, California and received her high school diploma January 26, 1950. Married 7 times - to Nicky Hilton, Michael Wilding, Mike Todd (her only marriage which ended with the death of the spouse), Richard Burton (twice!!), Senator John Warner of Virginia, and Larry Fortensky.

Knighted on 12/31/1999.

Taylor has devoted much time and energy to AIDS-related charities.
