The Games of the XXIX Olympiad will be held in Beijing, China from July 25 to August 10, 2008. Beijing was elected the host city in a vote with Istanbul, Osaka, Paris and Toronto. Its election was considered controversial by many, given what some consider the poor human rights record of China.
