Music of Argentina

Internationally, Argentina is known mostly for the tango, which developed in Buenos Aires and surrounding areas, as well as Montevideo, Uruguay.

By 1835, early tango was being played in Buenos Aires with instruments like guitars, harps, flutes, accordions and bandoneons. It was strongly influenced by Italian and Spanish immigrants (see music of Spain, Music of Italy[?]).
