Michoacán

Michoacán is a state of Mexico. It borders the Mexican states of Colima and Jalisco to the west, Guanajuato to the north, Mexico State to the east, Guerrero to the south east, and the Pacific Ocean to the south. It has an area of 59,864 km square. In 2003 the population was estimated at 4,047,500 people. The state capital is the city of Morelia. ISO 3166-2 is MX-MIC.

Michoacán also contains the cities of Hidalgo[?], Jacona, La Piedad, Lázaro Cárdenas, Los Reyes, Pátzcuaro, Sahuayo, Uruapan[?], Zacapú, Zamora, and Zitácuaro, as well as the Pre-Columbian ruins of Tzintzuntzán.
