Sicilian cuisine

Sicilian cuisine has various specialties and is based on Italian variations of the mediterranean kitchen. Sicilian cuisine calls for many fresh vegetables (e.g. the eggplant) and fish. Some famous Sicilian plates are pasta alla norma[?] and couscous al pesce[?]. Sweets are another specialty; examples include: frutta martorana, pignolata[?], buccellato[?], cannolo siciliano, granita[?], and cassata siciliana)
