Quorn

Quorn (trademark) is a mold fungus protein from the Fusarium[?] family, discovered in the village Marlow[?] in Great Britain in the 1970s.

Quorn has a meat-like taste and is fermented in large sterile tanks prior to purification and processing into usable chunks. It is increasingly popular in Europe as a substitute for meat, especially among vegetarians.

Marlow Foods[?] owns the patents on the production technology and controls all Quorn production. Marlow Foods is in turn owned by Astra Zeneca[?].
