Manchester Airport

This article is about the airport in Manchester, England. There is another (lesser known) airport with the same name in the United States.

Manchester Airport (MAN) in Manchester, England, is a very important aviation facility that handles hundreds of flights each day, both domestic and international.

Because it is located in England, this Manchester Airport is a hub to British Airways and many other important British carriers. It used to be the hub of operations of Cargolux's charter airline venture, Lion Air[?].

The popularity of this airport among many of the world's airlines is credited by some to the fact it is located in a city famous for its touristic sites, shopping, and most of all, industry, together with a population of over 20 million living within a two hour drive and extensive rail services running directly to its own railway station. In addition, it is also said that many British and Irish travellers fly over there too because the city is a popular sports hotbed, the famous team Manchester United F.C. of football playing here, and popular boxer Naseem Hamed having defended his world title many times there, sometimes even against other British boxers.

The airport is capable of handling jets of the size of an Airbus A340[?] or a Boeing 747.

Airlines flying to this airport include:
