Ludwig I of Bavaria

Ludwig I or Louis I (August 25, 1786February 29, 1868), king of Bavaria (1825 - 1848), succeeded his father Maximilian I[?] as king of Bavaria. He patronised the arts, but became tainted with scandals associated with one of his mistresses, Lola Montez. He abdicated on March 20, 1848 in favour of his son, king Maximilian II of Bavaria.
