Ethnic German

An ethnic German (usually simply called German) is someone who is considered by himself or others to be German. Characteristics are:

  • Cultural connection with German culture
  • Speaking the German language
  • Having ancestors who lived in Germany or an area that at the time was part of Germany or otherwise considered German

Ethnic Germans form an important minority group in several central and eastern European countries (Poland, Hungaria[?], Romania, CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States)) as well as in Namibia.
