Chow Chow, or Chow, is a breed of dog originated from China, where it is referred to as Songshi Quan (鬆獅犬 Pinyin: sōngshī quǎn), literally means "puffy-lion dog". It is an unusual and unique type of dog. They were originally made for food over in the other countries. Now they are good guard dogs: they are homeothermic, mesopytes, omnivore, they have parastic symbolic relationship, they are active in the winter, they have active protection, and they live 12-15 years and have 3-6 offspring. Chows have blue and black tongues.

Names

In addition to, or in place of, Songshi Quan, Chinese used to call Chow Chow Tang Quan, "Dog of the Tang Empire". A bas-relie[?] from 150 BC (during the Han Dynasty) includes a hunting dog like Chow Chows.

The name "Chow Chow" is based on the late-19th century name "Chow-dog", which in turn described pickled food from China and India.
