An animated series or cartoon series is a television series produced by means of animation. Most, particularly those produced in the United States, are aimed at an audience of children; a few are intended primarily for older viewers, but many others include humor on multiple levels to appeal to both children and adults.
Animated series produced in Japan are usually known as anime.
