Zhongshan (中山) is a city in the south of the Pearl River[?] Delta in Guangdong province in China. The city was originally a county named in honour of Dr. Sun Zhongshan. Dr. Sun was born Sun Yat-sen in Cuiheng Village (翠亨村) of this place.

Prior to the name change, it was called:

  1. Yuehai Circuit (粵海道) "Cantonese Sea"
  2. Xiangshan County (香山縣), "Fragrant Mountain".

Primary productions are agricultural, such as rice, lychee, banana, and sugar cane.
