Zhang Ailing

Zhang Ailing (or Chang Ailing, Chang Eileen, 张爱玲 in pinyin: zhang1 ai4 ling2), (1920 - 1995) was a Chinese writer.

Born and grown up in Shanghai, Zhang was good at writing love stories. Publishing her first novel in 1943, Zhang immediately became the most popular author in Shanghai. In 1952, she left Shanghai and worked for the American News Agency in Hong Kong. She moved to US in 1955, and wrote several English novels.

Her main works include Qing Cheng Zhi Lian, Jin Suo Ji and Hong Meigui Yu Bai Meigui.
