Willamette River

Redirected from Willamette Valley

In Oregon, the Willamette River runs north between the Coastal Range[?] and the Cascade Mountain Range to flow into the Columbia River at Portland. The valley formed is one of the most productive agricultural regions in the world. The Willamette valley is home to the majority of Oregon's population, containing the cities of Portland, Salem and Eugene.

With a cooler climate than California, the gently rolling hills surrounding the Willamette are home to some of the best known Pinot Noir in the New World. The substantial investment of Maison Drouhin, the famous Burgundian negociant[?] in creating Domaine Drouhin Oregon[?] is testament to the belief that the Willamette has the potential to compete with the best of Burgundy.
