A few Wikipedians have gotten together to make some suggestions about how we might organize data in articles about Battles. These are only suggestions, things to give you focus and to get you going, and you shouldn't feel obligated in the least to follow them. But if you don't know what to write or where to begin, following the below guidelines may be helpful. Mainly, we just want you to write articles!

Title WikiProject Battles
Scope This WikiProject aims primarily to provide a standardized format to describe battles.
Parentage The parent of this WikiProject is the WikiProject History[?].
Descendant Wikiprojects No descendant WikiProjects have been defined.
Similar Wikiprojects The similar WikiProjects are WikiProject Wars[?] and WikiProject Timelines.
Structure and Format The article List of battles should contain all of the known battles of historical significance.
Article titles should follow the format: Battle of Gettysburg. If disambiguation is needed years are added in parenthesis, as in Battle of Dunbar (1652)
The term Battle is a good NPOV generic term and is preferred over substitutes like attack, slaughter, raid, etc. These latter terms may be used if their usage is the most commonly used to describe a particular battle.
It has been suggested that wikipedia should contain an entry for every major battle. The suggested qualification for a major battle are:
