Wikipedia:Brilliant pictures

On this page, images and charts are listed that we find beautiful, striking, shocking, impressive, titillating, fascinating — in a word, brilliant. It is the visual equivalent to brilliant prose and as such, even more subjective. If you wish to add specific images to this page, please consider the following guidelines:

  • Images listed here should either be in the public domain or under the GNU Free Documentation License. While we tolerate some degree of fair use, a simple image gallery is of limited educational value (a requirement for fair use), and showcasing other people's work without their permission may also be considered unfair.
  • Please do not add too many images of the same category or type. There are many beautiful flowers, but it will suffice for us to list a few representative, especially beautiful photos here, for example. But providing a link to more pictures of the same type may be helpful.

If you wish to contribute photos or other pictures to Wikipedia yourself, please take a look at Wikipedia:Requested pictures, and also search for articles which might be illustrated by images you have. See Wikipedia:Image use policy for details.

If you want to add a diagram to a wikipedia article see Wikipedia:Graphics tutorials for advice on how to draw diagrams with a word processor or a drawing program.

To see the pictures without having to click on every link, see Wikipedia:Brilliant pictures visible. Be warned, however, that that page may take a while to load.
