Vocational education

Vocational education prepares directly for a certain non-academic professions. Vocational education and training is in most cases a form of secondary or post-secondary education. Even if some vocational education can be considered tertiary education, it is by nature not a form of higher education.

Vocational education is rarely sanctioned or presented as an alternative by schools as it reflects negatively on the 'academic' performance of a school. There is little honor in claiming X% of students went on to vocational schools whereas schools will boast of the number of students who go onto college. Research needs to be done on the number of college drop-outs and the drop-outs' knowledge of alternative forms of education like vocational schools.
