User:Zenogantner

I am looking for native speakers of Spanish, that have a good knowledge of the German language, for proof-reading Spanish-German word lists. It is for a Free software (GPL/GFDL) project, so feel free to contact me if you are interested!

Short bio

My name is Zeno Gantner.

The name Zeno is originally from Greece, but because of a Christian saint in northern Italy it spread to the area where the Bavarian dialect is spoken, and to Switzerland. My Bulgarian friends told me that the name is also quite common in Bulgaria (it is definitely not very common in Germany, though).

I like good food, good wine, cool beer, talking, the sun, the summer, the winter, good music (radio FM4 rocks! I do not live near Austria, but luckily, I can receive it via ogg livestream).

I do not like segmentation faults. However, I like the ones where I can find out what has caused them.

I study computer science and computational linguistics at Freiburg University in south-western Germany.

I was born in Rosenheim, Bavaria.

Interests

Cool Wikipedians

I think these people are cool (from what I've seen from them here): Ortolan88, AxelBoldt, Danny, Eloquence

Articles I have written/contributed to

I am one of more than a dozen administrators in the German Wikipedia, and I am working there most of the time.

Demographics of Singapore (languages & dialects), Georgetown, Penang, Penang (some comments), Public Holidays in Germany, Silat, Singlish

Plans

Ok. These are just ideas about what I (or others) could do here in the future. The main problem is time ...

  • technical stuff
    • Single sign-on[?] for all Wikipedias: Atm, you have to register everywhere. May be difficult...

  • write/change some articles, subjects:
  • translate good English articles to German (Deutsche Bahn)
  • Put interesting content from the German Wikipedia to the English Wikipedia, in order to enrich the content there and to make it more international.
  • Think about what can be done with the data (atm not so much) in Wiktionary:
    • Generation of linguistic data that may be used for free dictionary programs, language trainers, and so on.

Nice articles

Alternative hip hop, Bahasa Indonesia, Judo (plus the kanji signs, some information about Judo federations, and it could be the template for martial arts articles), Sprachbund

Articles that are still missing in Wikipedia

Can I already spend Wikidollars? I do not know whether I have 200 edits, do minor edits count? If yes, then I have, and you will receive one buck if you write a nice article (I decide what is nice ;-) on one of these topics...
