USS Boise

Two ships of the United States Navy have borne the name Boise, after Boise, capital city of Idaho.


Boise (SSN-764) was laid down 25 August 1988 at the Newport News Shipbuilding Company in Newport New, Virginia[?]; launched 23 March 1991; and commissioned 7 November 1992, Commander D. Mericle[?] commanding.

In 2002 Boise was assigned to the USS John F. Kennedy carrier battle group when the group took part in Operation Enduring Freedom.
