Tiger Beat

Tiger Beat, published by Laufer Media, Inc.[?] from Los Angeles, has been a top selling teen magazine for years.

Beginning in 1965, Tiger Beat has consistently kept teenagers up to date with the latest in movies, music and fashion. Known for its colorful covers with photos of the latest teen idols on them, Tiger Beat has existed during 5 decades of numerous world changes, but it has been able to adapt to each of those decades. For example, during the 1970s, Tiger Beat's cover often resembled something taken out of the movie Hair.

Tiger Beat's main target has always been girls ranging from the age of 10 to 19, and during the magazine's illustrious history it has had legendary stars and bands such as Elvis Presley, James Dean, Marlon Brando, The Beatles, The Four Seasons, The Beach Boys, David Cassidy, Shaun Cassidy[?], Donnie (and Marie) Osmond[?], Barry Williams, Erik Estrada, John Travolta, Kiss, Menudo, John Schneider[?] (of The Dukes of Hazzard fame), Michael J. Fox, Tom Cruise, Duran Duran, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Kirk Cameron[?], River Phoenix, The New Kids On The Block[?], Luke Perry, Jason Priestley, Jonathan Brandis[?], Devon Sawa,Jonathan Taylor Thomas[?], Leonardo DiCaprio, The Backstreet Boys, Ricky Martin and Aaron Carter.

Tiger Beat has also had a few girls on their cover, such as the aforementioned Marie Osmond[?], Olivia Newton-John, the girls from The Partridge Family and The Brady Bunch shows, Phoebe Cates, Molly Ringwald, Tiffany and Deborah 'Debbie' Gibson.

Nowadays, Tiger Beat still sells at most supermarkets across the United States and some other countries worldwide.

Tiger Beat was sold to Primedia late in 1998 by former publisher Sterling-McFadden[?]. It was purchased in 2003 by Scott Laufer, son of founder, Chuck Laufer.
