The Music Man

The Music Man is a 1962 musical film based on the Broadway show written by Meredith Willson[?] and Franklin Lacey[?]. It tells the story of a con man whose plan to take money from a small Iowa town is thwarted when he falls in love. It stars Robert Preston[?], Shirley Jones, Buddy Hackett, Hermione Gingold[?], Paul Ford[?] and Ron Howard.

The movie was adapted by Marion Hargrove[?] and directed by Morton DaCosta[?].

It won the Academy Award for Original Music Score and was nominated for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Color, Best Costume Design, Color, Best Film Editing, Best Picture and Best Sound.
