Starman

Starman is a 1984 science fiction film which tells the story of an alien from another planet who takes on the image of the dead husband of a young widow, and kidnaps her to help him travel to where he can meet up with a space ship to take him home. It stars Jeff Bridges, Karen Allen[?], Charles Martin Smith[?] and Richard Jaeckel[?].

The movie was written by Bruce A. Evans[?], Raynold Gideon[?] and Dean Riesner[?] (uncredited). It was directed by John Carpenter. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor (Jeff Bridges).

Starman was made into a television series in 1986, starring Robert Hays[?] and Christopher Daniel Barnes[?].


Starman is also the name of a number of DC Comics superheros. In the DC Comics Universe, the first Starman was scientist Ted Knight, who in the guise of Starman fought evil in the Justice Society of America. In the 1990s DC Comics revived the Starman character with a new series of comic books writteb by comic book writer Jack Robinson. This series started off with a second Starman, David Knight, Ted Knight's eldest son. In the first issue he is killed off, and the mantle of Starman is passed onto his younger brother, Jack Knight. He is the first Starman not to wear a mask or a costume. Over the course of this series several other characters took on the mantle of Starman.
