Sarah Miles

Sarah Miles (born December 31, 1941) is an English actress, notorious for eccentricities (such as drinking her own urine) as well as for her sometimes controversial dramatic roles.

Miles was born in Essex, England and trained at RADA, getting her first big break shortly afterwards as a precocious schoolgirl in Term of Trial[?] (1962). She went on to enjoy a long, albeit patchy, career in film and television. Of all her films, the one for which she is best known is the title role in Ryan's Daughter (1970).

In 1967, Sarah Miles had married the playwright, Robert Bolt. Although they divorced in 1975, she later returned to him when he was known to be suffering from a terminal illness, and they re-married shortly before his death in 1995. Bolt wrote the screenplay for the film, Lady Caroline Lamb (1973), in which she starred.
