Rolette County is a county located in the U.S. State of North Dakota. As of 2000, the population is 13,674. Its county seat is Rolla6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,433 km² (939 mi²). 2,337 km² (902 mi²) of it is land and 96 km² (37 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.93% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 13,674 people, 4,556 households, and 3,366 families residing in the county. The population density is 6/km² (15/mi²). There are 5,027 housing units at an average density of 2/km² (6/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 25.12% White, 0.07% African American, 73.01% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 1.61% from two or more races. 0.80% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 4,556 households out of which 43.80% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.00% are married couples living together, 22.70% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.10% are non-families. 22.60% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.50% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.97 and the average family size is 3.45.

In the county the population is spread out with 36.50% under the age of 18, 9.50% from 18 to 24, 25.80% from 25 to 44, 18.50% from 45 to 64, and 9.70% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 29 years. For every 100 females there are 97.20 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.90 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $26,232, and the median income for a family is $29,744. Males have a median income of $24,288 versus $20,383 for females. The per capita income for the county is $10,873. 31.00% of the population and 28.00% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 39.20% are under the age of 18 and 19.60% are 65 or older.
