Dunseith is a city located in Rolette County, North Dakota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 739.

Geography Dunseith is located at 48°48'49" North, 100°3'42" West (48.813581, -100.061726)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²). 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 739 people, 253 households, and 178 families residing in the city. The population density is 282.5/km² (729.2/mi²). There are 282 housing units at an average density of 107.8/km² (278.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 24.76% White, 0.27% African American, 71.04% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.14% from other races, and 3.65% from two or more races. 0.27% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 253 households out of which 44.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 31.6% are married couples living together, 32.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.6% are non-families. 26.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.74 and the average family size is 3.23.

In the city the population is spread out with 35.2% under the age of 18, 11.1% from 18 to 24, 23.8% from 25 to 44, 14.5% from 45 to 64, and 15.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 28 years. For every 100 females there are 90.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 80.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $17,917, and the median income for a family is $19,531. Males have a median income of $21,042 versus $20,250 for females. The per capita income for the city is $9,478. 36.5% of the population and 40.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 48.7% are under the age of 18 and 24.6% are 65 or older.
