Pelle the Conqueror

Pelle the Conqueror (also known as Pelle erobreren) is a 1987 film in Danish and Swedish which tells the story of Danish immigrants to Sweden who try to build a new life for themselves. It stars Pelle Hvenegaard[?], Max von Sydow, Erik Paaske[?], Björn Granath[?] and Morten Jørgensen[?].

The movie was adapted by Bille August, Per Olov Enquist[?], Janus Billeskov Jansen[?], Max Lundgren[?] and Bjarne Reuter[?] from the novel by Martin Andersen Nexø[?]. It was directed by August.

It won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film (Denmark) and was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Max von Sydow); it also won the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival and was listed in The New York Times Guide to the Best 1000 Movies Ever Made[?].
