Normandie-Niemen

Normandie-Niemen (Normandia-Nemen)is the GC3 (Groupe de Chasse 3 or 3rd Fighter Group) of the French Air Force. It was formed in September 1942 from French pilots to fight in the Soviet Union against Nazi Germany. It was awarded the name Niemen[?] by Joseph Stalin for its participation in the battles of the Niemen River.

Today, Normandie-Niemen is a squadron in the French Air Force[?].
