New Jersey State Highway 139

New Jersey State Highway 139 is a state highway[?] in New Jersey, United States. It is the original access to the Holland Tunnel from the Pulaski Skyway[?]. It was originally the business route for United States Highway 1 and United States Highway 9; the number 139 was chosen because someone thought the ampersand on "BUS 1&9" shields looked like a three.

Officially, NJ 139 multiplexes with Interstate 78 to the Holland Tunnel; the signage stops at I-78. As this section of I-78 has traffic lights, should I-78 be shortened to the freeway, the NJ Department of Transportation has this road covered.
