New Glasgow, Nova Scotia

New Glasgow (2001 population 9,432; metropolitan population 36,735) is the largest town in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Canada. Together with the neighbouring towns of Stellarton[?], Westville[?], Trenton[?], and Pictou[?]; they make up the province's fourth largest urban area.

The first settlement of New Glasgow was by Deacon Thomas Fraser[?] in 1784, and it was officially incorporated in 1875.

Major employers in the area include Michelin, Trenton Works[?] (a rail car company) and Kimberly-Clark. Sobeys[?], a national grocery chain, is based in nearby Stellarton.
