Milu

Redirected from Miru

In Polynesian mythology (specifically: Hawaii), Milu is the ruler of Lua-o-Milu, the underworld. He is served by lizards who eat the flies of Lua-o-Milu.

He is also known as Miru in the Cook Islands, a goddess who lives in Avaiki beneath Mangaia[?]. She intoxicates the souls of dead people with kava and then burns them eternally in her oven (also called Avaiki). The Tapairu are her daughters. In Maori myths, Miru has four daughters (the Tapairu) and one son: Tau-Titi.
