Minneapolis-St. Paul

Also called the Twin Cities. Minneapolis is the largest city in Minnesota. St. Paul is the capital of Minnesota. The region is the 15th largest metropolitan area in the United States as of the 2000 census. The population of the Twin Cities area is nearly three million people (2,968,805). The Minneapolis-St.Paul Metropolitan Statistical Area comprises thirteen counties:

• Anoka,
• Carver,
• Chisago,
• Dakota,
• Hennepin,
• Isanti,
• Ramsey,
• Scott,
• Sherburne,
• Washington, and
• Wright Counties in Minnesota; and
• Pierce and
• St. Croix Counties in Wisconsin.
