St. Croix County, Wisconsin

St. Croix County is a county located in the State of Wisconsin. As of 2000, the population is 63,155. Its county seat is Hudson6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,906 km² (736 mi²). 1,870 km² (722 mi²) of it is land and 36 km² (14 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.90% water.

Demographics As of the census1 of 2000, there are 63,155 people, 23,410 households, and 16,948 families residing in the county. The population density is 34/km² (88/mi²). There are 24,265 housing units at an average density of 13/km² (34/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 97.85% White, 0.28% African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.62% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.22% from other races, and 0.76% from two or more races. 0.76% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 23,410 households out of which 38.00% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.60% are married couples living together, 7.00% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.60% are non-families. 21.20% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.30% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.66 and the average family size is 3.12.

In the county, the population is spread out with 27.90% under the age of 18, 8.20% from 18 to 24, 32.20% from 25 to 44, 21.90% from 45 to 64, and 9.90% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 100.20 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.50 males.
