Isanti County is a county located in the U.S. State of Minnesota. As of 2000, the population is 31,287. Its county seat is Cambridge6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,170 km² (452 mi²). 1,137 km² (439 mi²) of it is land and 33 km² (13 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.83% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 31,287 people, 11,236 households, and 8,415 families residing in the county. The population density is 28/km² (71/mi²). There are 12,062 housing units at an average density of 11/km² (28/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 97.65% White, 0.26% African American, 0.58% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 0.94% from two or more races. 0.83% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 11,236 households out of which 38.10% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.10% are married couples living together, 8.40% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.10% are non-families. 20.10% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.20% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.74 and the average family size is 3.15.

In the county the population is spread out with 28.70% under the age of 18, 7.80% from 18 to 24, 30.40% from 25 to 44, 22.20% from 45 to 64, and 10.80% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 100.50 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.80 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $50,127, and the median income for a family is $55,996. Males have a median income of $39,381 versus $26,427 for females. The per capita income for the county is $20,348. 5.70% of the population and 4.00% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 5.70% are under the age of 18 and 8.60% are 65 or older.
