Mighty Ducks of Anaheim

The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim are a National Hockey League team based in Anaheim, California.

The Mighty Ducks are owned by the Walt Disney Corporation. The team's name was chosen from the Disney movie The Mighty Ducks, about a group of misfit teens who form an amateur hockey team. Disney has subsequently also made an animated television series called Mighty Ducks, featuring a fictional Mighty Ducks of Anaheim team that consists of actual (albeit anthropomorphised) ducks.

1993 -- Mighty Ducks of Anaheim select Paul Kariya with the #4 pick in Round 1 of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft; Kariya becomes cornerstone of young Mighty Ducks franchise

1997 -- Make first ever NHL Stanley Cup Playoff appearance; defeated the Phoenix Coyotes 4-3 in the Western Conference quarterfinals but lost in the semifinals to the Detroit Red Wings

2003 -- Best playoff performance in franchise history; defeated the Minnesota Wild 3-0 in Western Conference Finals; defeated by the New Jersey Devils (4-3) in the Stanley Cup finals.
