Metre per second

An SI derived unit of speed (scalar) and velocity (vector), defined by distance in metres divided by time in seconds. The unit is given as m/s or m/sec.

A typical human walking speed is about 1 m/s. Below a speed of about 2 m/s, it is more efficient to walk than to run, but above that speed, it is more efficient to run.

The speed of light is about 300,000,000 m/s.

A car travelling at 60 miles per hour (mph) or 100 kilometers per hour (kph[?]) is going 28 m/s.

The speed of sound in air varies according to air pressure and temperature. Under standard conditions, sound travels through air at about 343 m/s.

1 metre/second = 3.2808 feet/sec = 2.2369 miles/hour.
