Merengue

Merengue is a type of music that comes from the Dominican Republic. It is similar in sound and rhythm to Salsa music. World famous Merengue singers include Juan Luis Guerra[?], Wilfrido Vargas[?], Puerto Ricans Ashley[?] and Wilfridin[?], The Freddie Kenton Orquestra[?] and Conjunto Quisqueya[?].


Merengue also refers to a type of Puerto Rican traditional candy, usually sold in bakeries all over Puerto Rico.
