Margrethe II of Denmark (Margrethe Alexandrine Thorhildur Ingrid) (born April 16, 1940) is the current Queen of Denmark.

On June 10, 1967 she married French Diplomat Henri de Laborde de Monpezat. Two children were born of this union, Frederik[?] André Henrik Christian, Crown Prince of Denmark, on May 26, 1968, and Joachim[?] Holger Valdemar Christian, on June 7, 1969.

She ascended the throne on January 14, 1972, on the death of her father, Frederick IX (Frederik IX).
