Lanai (island)

Lanai is one of the seven large islands in Hawaii. It is also known as the "Pineapple Island". It is separated from the island Molokai by the Kalohi Channel.

There are three hotels in Lanai and several golf courses.

History Lanai was first seen by Europeans on February 12, 1779 (Captain Clark). On 1922, Jim Dole, the president of Dole Pineapple Company[?], bought the island of Lanai, and turned it into the world's biggest pineapple plantation. The tourism industry started recently.

In Lanai, you can see lots of nature and feel the mood of the original Hawaiian Islands. Unlike the island of Oahu, there are no big shopping center or landmarks. The major tourist activity is relaxation.
