Klöße (German cuisine) are dumplings[?] made from mashed potatoes (then called Kartoffelknödel) or dried bread with milk and egg yolks and cooked like pasta (called Semmelknödel). Served instead of potatoes. In Bavaria and Austria they are called Knödel.
