Kanto region

Kanto region (関東地方; Kanto-chiho) is a geographical area located at Honshu, the largest island in Japan. Its boundary is nearly the same as that of Kanto plain[?].

The name is generally considered came from eastern region (東) to Hakone[?]'s checkpoint[?] (関所).

The region consists of following prefectures: Gunma prefecture, Tochigi prefecture, Ibaraki prefecture, Saitama prefecture, Tokyo, Chiba prefecture, Kanagawa prefecture.

A Japanese army Kanto-gun[?] at World War II is not related to this region.
