Irving Thalberg

Irving Thalberg (May 30, 1899 - September 14, 1936) was an American film producer during the early years of motion pictures. He was called "The Boy Wonder" for his youth and his unmatched ability for selecting the right scripts and making very profitable films out of them

Thalberg began his film career at Universal Studios, as the personal secretary to Carl Laemmle[?]. He left Universal in 1924 to become head of production at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. He produced several films there, including Mutiny on the Bounty.

He was married to actress Norma Shearer.

The Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, is named for him.
