Hijack

Taking control or possession of a vehicle (and the goods and/or passengers in it) from someone by force is usually known as hijacking. The special case of boarding a ship from another vessel is known as piracy. It is not unknown for ships to be hijacked by somebody already on board, such as the hijacking of the passenger ship Achille Lauro by Palestinians in 1985.

Aircraft hijacking receives the most media attention, although hijacking of trucks and cars (carjacking[?]) is also common.
