East Asia

East Asia is a subregion of Asia. It includes the following territories:

The history of East Asia, as well as parts of Southeast Asia, is heavily influenced by and intertwined with that of China. For example, all East Asian countries, except Mongolia, have been using Chinese characters. Those nations that have close tie in writing systems are collectivelly called CJK. Mongolians participated in the Chinese politics in the Mongol Dynasty of China.
