Daito Ryu

Daito Ryu, aikijitsu or aikibudo is a Japanese martial art that first rose to attention under the headmastership of Takeda[?] Sensei. Although he claimed it was a Koryu (ancient art), there appears to be no documentation that predates him. He claimed all documentation was lost in a fire. It is generally agreed that it is closer in spirit to Koryu than to modern or Gendai[?] arts.

Daito Ryu is becoming more popular, but has largely been eclipsed by its offshoot Aikido. Amongst its other descendants are Hakko Ryu[?].
