Currant

A currant (also called zante currant) is a variety of dried seedless grape used in cooking, especially baking. Currants are very small and intensely flavoured. They are not usually eaten 'raw' but they are the major ingredient in currant slice[?] and currant cake[?].

See also sultana, raisin.

Redcurrants[?] and blackcurrants are NOT grapes and not related to the dried variety described above. They are berries. There is also an extra-small variety of cherry tomato[?] known as currant tomatoes[?] due to their small size.
