CSS Grampus was a stern-wheel river steamer built in 1856 at McKeesport, Pennsylvania, for civilian employment. Taken by the Confederate Army[?] in early 1862, she served as a transport and gunboat on the Mississippi River. Grampus was scuttled off Island Number Ten on April 7, 1862, when that fortification surrendered. However, she was apparently raised by Union forces and was probably destroyed by fire on January 11, 1863, under the name Grampus No. 2.
