Civil rights history
There have been a number of struggles of disadvantaged groups to obtain full civil rights. These include:
- The US civil rights movement in the United States
- Apartheid in South Africa
- Communism in the Soviet Union as relating to freedoms of religion, speech, press, etc.
- Rights of women and non-muslims in countries dominated by Islam
- Various gay rights movements in countries across the world.
